Well after a long drive up to Mallory Park (near Liecester) in the rain we were debating whether it was such a good idea to race.
Wet conditions make it hell for racing around a track, as you can imagine, even if the car is set up perfect for it.
Anyway, Sunday morning came and the qualifier was at midday. Time to get prepping the car for what was looked like it was going to be a nice day.
Car went out on the dry track and gained position number 6 on the grid which wasnt bad seeing as we had tyre pressure problems and it needed to come into the pits after the 4th lap.
After qualifier, we watched the other classes for that day, studying carefully at how other racers were taking the track when the rain started coming down at around 4pm.
'Well the weather man was right about it raining at 4pm' said someone.
Upon this weather condition the cars suspension, tyre pressures, tyres and a few other bits needed to be adjusted on the mini.
Finally getting the mini out on the track for the actual race, I said 'I think we have the winning formula'.
A really excellent start led to a destructive finish.
Gaining position to 2nd place on the track, with another 6 minutes racing to go, I was absolutely ecstatic.
Expecting the car to come around the devils elbow (hairpin bend) in 1st place, I was shocked to find the it wasnt in 2nd or 3rd place. Every car came around apart from our number 6 car.
Didnt know what had happened but the car didnt appear for over a minute, knocking us right into last place, worrying about lapped now.
Driver held it together and gave it his all despite the car being damaged he still finished all laps.
Distraught was an understatement.
The driver said there was something slippery on the track with a possibility of either antifreeze or oil.
Hopefully look at uploading the in car video footage of the race shortly.
